The large retailer

Miguel, 45

Porto, Portugal

The large retailer

Retail chain operations director, needs liability clarity

Who he is

Miguel works at the headquarters of a mid-sized retail chain in Porto, responsible for payment infrastructure across 34 locations in Portugal and Spain. He follows payment developments closely and sees potential in the digital euro for cross-border standardisation.

What he knows

Understands payment systems at an operational level. Knows the difference between what works in a demo and what works across 34 real stores with real PSPs.

How he feels

Not a sceptic, but not easily impressed. Measured and rigorous.

He might ask

•“If the offline function fails in one of my 34 stores, who is liable?”
•“How does this behave when we cross the border between Portugal and Spain?”
•“What is the switching procedure if we need to move to a different PSP?”
